5 heartwarming ways to practice self-care during winter
Inspiration Motivation Self-care Winter self-care WinterIf the cold weather has you feeling blue, there are some easy ways you can uplift yourself at home. Especially in the stressful time we’re currently in, self-care is more important now than ever before. Not sure how to do this? Here are some ideas.
Get cosy and relaxed
Sometimes, it’s the little things that are the best. Getting cosy under a warm blanket with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee, to read a book or watching a movie, is a great way to unwind. Be sure to switch off your notifications and any other distractions for added relaxation. Don’t feel pressured to be productive- this is simply your time to relax.
Cook a hearty meal
There’s nothing better than a warm, hearty meal in the wintertime. Whatever your taste buds desire, chances are you can make it at home. The act of cooking can be quite fun when you put on some nice music and experiment with different spices and flavours. It can also be a chance to bond with those you live with, which can elevate your mood and make you feel less lonely.
Have a pampering bath
So much stress is stored in the body as tension, aches and pains. That’s why a nice bath can not only warm you up in winter, but it can also help you relax. Use your favourite bubble bath or oil, light some candles and be sure to moisturise once you get out in order to combat that winter dryness.
Do a winter de-clutter
Since you’re spending more time at home now, a surprisingly easy way to uplift yourself is to clean up and de-clutter your space. A clean environment can help you feel like your mind is also clearer, and letting go of unnecessary possessions can feel like a weight is lifted off your shoulders. To make this easier, you can use a de-cluttering method such as KonMari or 4 Boxes.
Warm up with exercise
We get it- getting out of bed to exercise when it’s cold outside can be quite challenging! However, exercise has proven benefits for your body and mind, so skipping it is the opposite of self-care. Even just a few minutes of simple exercises you can do at home will get your heart pumping and your body warmed up in no time.
However, tempting it may be to neglect your wellbeing during winter, remember that your mental health is always worth taking care of. We hope you’re feeling inspired to show yourself some love, and don’t forget that you can find even more self-care tips and tricks in our Life articles. Enjoy!
