Everything happening with COVID-19 has put a damper on all our spirits. It’s created a somberness in the air and raised a lot of panic, but it doesn’t need to stay that way. There are really cool things you can do to uplift and calm your spirit and that of others. Take a look.
Gratitude in your attitude
Being grateful is understanding that a situation isn’t ideal at the moment but there are so many other things that are good that you should embrace. Things that you may have taken for granted before the COVID-19 pandemic are things you should be grateful for now, like your health and being able to afford essentials, like food and medication.
Positive vibes only
Do things that bring you joy and calmness. If reading a book or cooking makes you happy, do that. Surround yourself with the kind of energy that you need to lift your mood. Only you have the power to control the kind of energies and vibes that you want around you - use it! And if you’re the one bringing the negativity, challenge those negative thoughts with more positive ones.
It’s not all doom and gloom
Remembering that whatever you’re feeling or going through won’t last forever really takes the load off. Although you may be feeling a little down and out right now, that’s a temporary feeling for a temporary situation, so treat it as such. Continue to make plans and stick to them, nurture relationships, improve yourself each day and commit to new experiences. Don’t treat this moment in your life as though it’s the end of the world.
Less news is good news
Limit the amount of time you spend watching the news. You need to stay informed with what’s happening in the world right now, but try not spend all day watching the news or browsing news sites as that could really have you feeling anxious. COVID-19 is a serious issue, and should be treated as such. However, avoid reading about or watching programmes that exaggerate or intensify the situation a little bit more than necessary.
You first, you always
Choosing yourself should make you feel good. This means taking care of yourself- mind, body and soul. Eating healthy and exercising, engaging with things that keep you mentally stimulated and doing things that fulfil you should fill your self-love cup right to the brim. Prioritise yourself, always!
Things won’t always go as planned, and life will always have its fair share of ups and downs. Embrace the ups and try to overlook the downs. Remember, don’t stay down too long, there are a whole a lot of things to be enjoyed and explored.
