Starting afresh can be daunting, and this is probably because you never know what to expect. We get it - but let’s face it, we all need to hit the reset button on our lives from time to time. Here’s why.
You’re not a failure
We all make mistakes, and sometimes we think that those mistakes can only be fixed by starting afresh. Try to forget about the failures and losses and focus on your new beginning. Use this time to embrace change and not to beat yourself up about everything you’ve done wrong in the past.
Meeting new people
Sometimes starting afresh means applying for a new job, changing schools or moving to a different city. The cool thing about this is that it introduces you to a whole new experience and exposes you to different people. Whichever journey you’re on with resetting your life, you’ll always meet new people along the way. Be open to that.
You’re never too old
You can decide at any moment that you’d like to do things differently - it’s never too late and you’re never too old to make that decision. If there are things in your life that you’re not particularly pleased about, that’s okay, you should give yourself permission to improve on them.
Facing your fears
Transitioning or starting over is scary for anyone who’s going through it, but it allows you to come face to face with your fears. You’ll soon learn that you’re much braver than you thought and you’ll gain confidence to face all your other fears.
Endings aren’t bad
Starting afresh doesn’t mean that everything before that was terrible. It only means you want to start something new. Don’t spend too much time mourning what was, rather focus on enjoying your new chapter.
No matter what you’ve gone through in your life, you need to believe that there are ways to improve and greater things to experience than those that you already have. Be proud of yourself for choosing to start afresh when you didn’t need to. And if you had no choice but to, be proud of yourself for being brave enough to go through with it.
