What to do if you’re single this summer

Summer summer time holidays

You don’t need to be bae’d up to have a memorable summer holiday. In fact, it’s way more beneficial to invest in your longest standing romance — the one with yourself. Here's a list of cool things you can get up to this summer if you’re single.

Connect with old friends

We all have people we’ve been meaning to see but haven’t exactly had the time to because school, work or other commitments. This is a great time to reconnect with your old mates and catch up over coffee or ice-cream.

Meet some new ones

Summer’s a great time to meet new people and forge new friendships. Go out for a walk in the park and chat to a couple of people, or approach someone you find interesting at a mall or in a bookshop. This is the perfect time to be outgoing and make an effort to converse with different people, have a laugh and maybe even build some lasting bonds.

Get fit

Since you’re on holiday, it’s probably the best time to pour all your focus into getting fit and healthy. There are plenty of ways to do this — you can prep for a marathon, take up yoga or join the local gym. Whatever fitness technique you’re interested in, this is your chance to go for it, girl.

Face a fear

We all have fears and phobias that limit us. Why not face one of them and make it a thing of the past? For example, if you’re afraid of heights, you could use some of the cash you’ve been saving to go bungee jumping or ride a rollercoaster. You’ll discover new things about yourself in the process and it’ll leave you feeling really empowered.

Take up painting

Art is a great (and inexpensive) way to express yourself and to relax. Get yourself a drawing book, canvas or plain paper and start to make mini art pieces everyday. You can hang them on your wall, gift them to friends or stash them if you like. The point is to do something fun and creative that’ll help you unwind and remind you not to take life too seriously.

Being single in the summer doesn’t have to be synonymous with being bored. If anything, it means getting to do the things you enjoy, while meeting new people and getting your slay on. Now that sounds like a blast.
