Since she was 6 years old, Yara Shahidi has been gracing our television screens with her talents and opinions. She’s been at the forefront of many human rights and equality initiatives. She’s even founded her own cause, Eighteenx18, which is encourages young people to exercise their right to vote.

Yara isn’t just an actress, she’s an activist and advocate of human rights and equality. She’s told numerous magazines that what she’s most excited about when it comes to turning 18, is finally being able to vote.

How she glows

In between playing our fave first year college student on Grownish and saving the world, Yara takes care of her glowing skin using Cardamom, an ingredient found in Persian tea. She professes a ‘from the inside out’ routine, which involves eating healthy food, staying hydrated and cleansing daily.

Yara uses fashion to express herself. Everything she does is deliberate and for a cause, so she has a lot of t-shirts with bold statements about initiatives she supports. You can steal her style by pairing your favourite jeans with a statement t-shirt or vest. She keeps it all simple, with her hair usually in its natural curly state or in a sleek bun. Cool, right?
