Amakele Lithemba Qamata, better known as Ama by her loving friends and fans is a force to be reckoned with. Many of you may know her from South Africa’s hit drama series Blood & Water on Netflix. Are you a new fan who’d like to know more about this young lady who’s taking the entertainment industry by storm? Here are a few facts about her.

Fun fact

At only 21 years old, Ama is taking the industry by storm and rubbing shoulders with big stars. Although she might be known for her role as Puleng on Blood & Water, Ama plays other on-screen roles like Buhle on Gomora. She’s been making her acting career a priority and knew from her early childhood that she wanted to grace our screens with her talen. We love that she’s made that dream a reality.

How she glows

Ama gives the term ‘brown skin girl’ a different kind of cool with her flawless skin. Skincare is an important part of her self-care routine, which includes using the Ponds Firming Serum mask. Treating yourself to a face mask every now and then can help you hydrate your skin and get glowing!

Steal her style

Ama may be young, but she’s definitely fearless. We see this through her daring, fresh and fun style. We love that she doesn’t shy away from bright colours and shows off her petite frame. Our favourite Ama fashion moment was definitely her look for the premiere of Netflix’s Queen Sono, where she thanked her designer from Louise Boni Closing Studio for making her look like the star we all know that she is.

Why she’s a Flame

Believe in yourself. I promise you, your time is coming. And we’ll be here cheering you on. I’m also so humbled by the fact that people are so excited for my journey. It’s so humbling to see that. I want to see more of that. I want to see all of us lift each other up.”

Ama’s plan to turn the industry around and to change the world’s perception of South Africa is what fuels her. Even though she’s a lead actress in one of South Africa’s biggest drama series, she maintains her humble nature and continues to fight many of the industry issues that young and talented actors and actresses face, such as being underpaid. Talent like Ama’s requires a strong support system and she definitely has that in her close-knit family. Surrounding yourself with people who are ready and waiting to celebrate and support you is a key component of success.

Between her good looks, her go-getter spirit and her sense of humour, we can’t help but love Ama and we can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!
