Summer’s almost here and it’s easy to fall off your healthy regime and find yourself going back to old unhealthy habits. It doesn’t have to be this way, though. Which is why we’ve highlighted 5 good habits that will be great for your body this summer.
Take care of your skin
Your skin is your body’s largest organ so, naturally, it’s important to make sure that it’s healthy. Remember to exfoliate regularly since the heat may cause bacteria and dirt to gather and clog your pores more in the summer. You don’t need to get expensive products to do this, in fact, you can make your own exfoliating scrub using oats, sugar and milk or water. Keeping your skin moisturised and protected by using sunscreen is also important, so be sure to include these in your daily skin routine.
Hit the local pool
Exercising in the summer can be a little difficult since the heat can be quite unbearable. This doesn’t mean you can’t keep fit. In fact, you can cool down and get in your daily exercise by swapping your daily jog out for a swim instead. Don’t have a pool at home? There are plenty of public pools that are in great condition and since they’re free to use, you can go as often as you like. You could even make the pool your squad hangout spot for the summer.
The fact that fruit taste amazing and they’re great for your body is really incredible, right? Stay stocked up on your fave fruit this summer to help you stay hydrated and healthy. It’s a great alternative to eating heavy potato chips that have loads of preservatives and bad carbs. Also, did you know that watermelon has antioxidants that protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays? It’s like eating your sunscreen, only it probably tastes way better.
Explore your neighbourhood
Hiking is great, but we know that it’s not practical for everyone. But you can get your daily steps in by taking walks through your area and surrounding neighbourhoods with your friends. Carry an umbrella or wear or grab a cap, a bottle of water and a couple of your besties and you could make an adventure of it.
Ditch the fizzy drinks
Your body needs to stay hydrated in the summer, and as tasty as your favourite cola may be, this isn’t a healthy way to stay hydrated. Rather swap out the fizzy drinks for some homemade iced tea, water infused with fruit, or fresh fruit juice. These are taste great, cost less and are fantastic for your body.
