Though it's difficult to think of anything else when you’re studying for exams, studying too much without making time to do other things can also be really unhealthy. Here are 5 things to add to your to-do list during this exam season, to help stay balanced.
Not all of us are into writing things down, especially if it’s about what we’re feeling or thinking. But journaling is basically like having a friend you can talk to when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, or even happy. You don’t have to do it every single day, but you should put this on your to-do list because it can help you feel a little less anxious.
Getting some fresh air
No one should study around the clock without going out for air. Take a walk, walk your dog or go outside for a few minutes to inhale some fresh air and absorb some sun. Getting air will clear your mind, especially on those days when you feel like you’ve been studying for hours and as a result, you’re experiencing a bit of information overload. It’s kind of crazy what taking in some nature can do for your mind.
Revising before you go to bed will keep your mind refreshed with everything you’ve studied, especially if you’re writing your exam the next day. This is simply about refreshing your mind and making sure you’re ready to kick some exam butt.
Checking in on your loved ones
You can very easily get sucked into studying, so much so that you end up unintentionally neglecting the people you care about. Remind yourself to get in touch with friends and family during exam season. Even if you don’t reach out every single day, choose some days to call or text and remind your faves that you might be busy, but you love them. You’re going through a busy time in your life, but that doesn’t mean you should isolate yourself.
Taking care of yourself
You may be pressed for time during exams, but you don’t write exams everyday. Granted, you may use your free days to study for your upcoming exams, but there are days like the weekends that you can use to prioritise self-care. And after so much studying, you deserve a chilled day of de-stressing. Take a bath with scented candles and bath salts, put on your favourite face mask or drown yourself in your favourite novel. Here are some other exam time self-care ideas.
Your exams are important, but so are other aspects of your life. You have to focus on your studies, but don’t neglect the other parts of your life that keep you functional. What are some of the things you usually add to your to-do list during exams? Share on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
