5 sites that offer private tutoring online

There’s nothing more frustrating than not being able to find a tutor in your area when you need help for school. That’s why it’s always good to know where you can find South African tutors that can help you online. Here are 5 sites that offer this great alternative to the traditional way of private tutoring.

Gutsy Tutors

Gutsy Tutors lets you find a tutor that’s specific to your needs. Their tutors cover Maths, Physical Science, Geography, Biology, History, English, Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu among other subjects. This site lets you access quality tutor support any time you need, and their tutors are thoroughly screened to ensure that you’re getting the best help possible.

SkillUp

On SkillUp, you search for tutors by specifying your subject, grade and price range, and you then get a list of matching tutors. The site has a messaging system you can use to speak to the tutor with. Once you’ve decided which tutor you’d like to work with, buying lessons works by you selecting how many hours of lessons you'd like, and then paying for them online- using either EFT, Snapscan, or Credit Card.

First Tutors

First Tutors offer tutoring in English, Afrikaans, Maths and other disciplines such as science and the arts. On this site, you can connect with experienced private tutors online. First Tutors can help you if you need specialised tuition, such as for the National Senior Certificate or other exams.

Bright Sparkz

Bright Sparkz helps you find a tutor specific to your needs, your most-convenient times as well as any special learning requirements you may have. Once you approve your tutor’s profile, you purchase a lesson package according to your needs and budget.

Hello Tutor

Hello Tutor is a custom-built video-lesson-platform, so it’s a bit different from the other sites we’ve mentioned here. This site assists with mostly maths and science, but instead of working with a tutor you’re able to choose from lessons in English (and a few in Zulu) to watch. You watch the lesson by using your credits (which you buy with real money) and every video costs R2 to purchase for 48 hours. You can also subscribe for unlimited access to all content on the system for just R49 per month.

Online tutors are an easy, convenient alternative to normal tutoring. If you’re in need of extra assistance with your studies, why not give one of these sites a try? Good luck with your revision!
