When you're busy preparing for exams, exercising is usually the last thing on your mind. However, adding even a little bit of exercise to your daily routine can actually help you study and manage your stress better. Here are 5 of the best exercises to do during exam-time.


If you feel like you don’t have enough time to exercise as well as study, why not try combining the two? Reading your notes while you’re lightly exercising on a treadmill, stationary bike, stairclimber or elliptical machine can save you time by killing two birds with one stone. How’s that for multi-tasking?

Get aerobic

When you do aerobic exercises (also known as cardio) such as running and cycling, you help your heart pump blood to your brain- we don’t need to explain why this is great for exam-time, do we? If you’re feeling the brain fog setting in, go for a walk or jog around your area for a refreshing boost.

Don’t skip P.E.

You might want to stay in class and study for exams, but we actually recommend getting out onto the field during your Physical Education lessons and allowing your body to release that study tension. Plus, you’ll be able to interact with your classmates and maybe even get some helpful study advice from them! If your school doesn’t have P.E. during exam time, check out what’s going down at the sports grounds anyway- you may find a fun match to join in on.

Train your brain

Activities such as sports or dancing require brain activity, which is perfect if you want to keep your mental abilities sharp! By working to solve problems while you’re exercising, you’ll be learning an important skill which will help you when you sit down to study later.

It’s no secret that exam-time is stressful, but adding some stress-beating exercises to your daily routine can help a lot! Next time you’re feeling anxious about your studies, why not try out some yoga, pilates or even Tai chi to calm down? Woo-sah!
